New Coop Crowdfunding project
Rewilding with wild cocoa? … Perhaps a key to saving and restoring parts of the rainforest.
Crowdfunding project supports the restoration of the rainforest and improves the quality of life for the Takana people in Bolivia. Wild cocoa trees are planted, and other tree species are sown to create an ongoing source of income and incentives for a sustainable future for the area.
The Takana people, who live in and around the Madidi National Park in the northwestern region of La Paz in Bolivia, make a living by collecting wild cocoa during the summer months. A new local rainforest project will ensure better living conditions for them and at the same time ensure that the rainforest remains a habitat for animals and plants. The project is funded through Coop Crowdfunding, where private funds help plant wild cocoa trees and other tree species sown from seeds harvested in the surrounding rainforest.
“We are proud to be able to offer this rewilding project on Coop Crowdfunding, which not only protects the rainforest, but also improves the quality of life for the local residents. The project is exciting because the method of rewilding has not been tried in this way before,” say Lars Heiselberg Vang Jensen and Kim Nielsen, founders of Growing Trees Network.
The fundraiser ends on March 19. Read more here
