A tribute to our HEROES

Advisory Board

Morten Dall

Innovation midwife and serial entrepreneur

It is easy to despair and repress when the news stream rumbles along with critical problems such as climate change, mass death of bees and loss of biodiversity. As an ordinary citizen, it can be difficult to see that you can make a significant difference.

Herein lies precisely the beauty of the Growing Trees Network. It becomes tangible for the individual how he/she can contribute to solving complex problems - and at the same time contribute to something that is rooted deep in our soul.

For several years, my entrepreneurship has gravitated around sustainability. Therefore, it is only natural for me to support the important work of Growing Trees Network. I love trees! As an innovation midwife, I have over the past 15 years helped a large number of companies to give birth to new ideas and give them a good start in life. I hope my experience can contribute to even more trees planted.

Karsten Bjørno

Head of Communications at DANVA, the water sector's trade association.

Afforestation has a documented positive effect on the quality of groundwater. In its work, the Growing Trees Network helps to raise awareness of the need for protection of our drinking water and at the same time engage the population in the effort. This work breeds respect and recognition.

Kim Agerfeldt

Former owner of several companies, and serial entrepreneur with a burning heart for optimal solutions, especially for the energy sector.

In my world, sustainability and business go hand in hand, I think outside the box, and I like to look for a solution where CSR is highly valued. My green mindset and broad knowledge of the packaging industry ensure that we can always offer a solution where all materials can be recycled. Thinking “green” is therefore a natural part of my working day!

In my private life, I am the father of 3 amazing kids and married to Louise who also knows how to challenge me in a positive way.

I am involved in the Growing Trees Network Foundation as I believe that the work they do help to secure our common future in Denmark and hopefully can reach far beyond the country's borders. I have known Lars for many years, traveled with Lars and helped with many projects to 3 countries in the world.

I believe it is a common task to secure and take care of our future together!

Palle Madsen

Owner of InnovaSilva, Ph.D. and former professor MSO, School of Forestry, University of Copenhagen. Palle can be contacted regarding forest and climate issues on mobile: 24340209, or by email palle@innovasilva.com.

My passion is to bring good news about forests, forestry and land that has been previously forested. When we know the function and dynamics of trees, we must realize that in addition to being the world's most beautiful production unit, the forest - and especially the growth of the forest - is just the strongest weapon we have against climate change.

We need to go further than being a carbon neutral society. We should strive to become CO2 negative! We will need a lot more wood in the future to combat climate change, to make our planet a decent place to live for more than 10 billion people, and to protect all our plant and animal species.

For me, it is meaningful to team up with the Growing Trees Network and pursue our common goal of more forest and a more sustainable future.

Peter Søgaard

Biologist specializing in Population Biology, Ecological Interactions and Conservation from Aarhus University

Has always been a nature nerd and committed to nature conservation. Joined Greenpeace at the age of 12.
Has worked professionally with the management of Danish nature since 2007. Today, I work to integrate biodiversity considerations across the board, i.e. biodiversity in urban development, biodiversity in climate adaptation, biodiversity in infrastructure, biodiversity in forests, etc.

Target. Integrating biodiversity into the development of society. Nature is a fundamental element of our identity.

Co-creation partners

A big thank you to our partners for your invaluable support and expertise. With free system licenses, consulting hours, physical equipment and professional sparring and advice – and not least time – you have really made a difference for us. We are deeply grateful for your contribution. You help us be efficient, flexible, and keep costs to an absolute minimum, so our sponsors get the most afforestation for their donations.

We couldn't have done it without you, and we're happy to have you on the team. Your commitment and dedication are a great inspiration to us. We look forward to continuing our collaboration and creating even more amazing results together for the benefit of the climate, drinking water, biodiversity, public health and shared future.

You come with our warmest recommendations!

Denmark Plants Trees

On 14 September 2019, we participated in the fundraising show Denmark Plants Trees, organized by TV2 and the Danish Society for Nature Conservation. Here, more than DKK 20 million was collected for new forests in Denmark. We would like to thank TV2, DN and not least the production company TiKi Media for the collaboration before, during and after the fundraising show. It was an exciting and very educational journey.

But not least, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the individuals and companies who supported by donating. Your generosity resulted in 1,105,509 donated trees, which have subsequently been planted in 48 new forests around Denmark. The last trees in autumn of 2024 at Odense.

The participation in Denmark Plants Trees was in many ways a turning point for us. The story of perhaps the world's first fundraising show for the benefit of nature went around the world via the news agency AFP and BBC News.

We hope that you will continue to support our activities so that together we can fight climate change, protect groundwater, create new recreational areas and more nature.

The 48 new community forests are listed here.
